During Fairtrade Fortnight (22 February - 7 March), the Young Co-operative at Oakmeeds Community College in Burgess Hill, West Sussex, put together and distributed a quiz to all pupils and awarded prizes – gift vouchers for their stall – to winners in each year group. They also held a special Fairtrade cakes sale (Fairtrade ingredients used) alongside their weekly lunchtime stall.
To celebrate the Big Swap, representatives from Oakmeeds Young Co-operative visited a local primary school and set up their stall at the school's Fairtrade tea party, selling to parents, teachers and pupils in the infant school playground. In return, 50 Year 1 pupils visited Oakmeeds to sing Fairtrade inspired songs in the school’s Year 10 assembly. Young Co-operatives Co-ordinator Carla Bartella said: “They were amazing!”
