Robert Owen Day Resource Kit

A new teaching resource exploring Robert Owen’s world, and the enduring importance of his ideas in the twenty-first century has been produced by the Co-operative College in partnership with the Enterprise Network.

Schools around the UK celebrated the very first Robert Owen Day on 19 November 2009, coinciding with Social Enterprise Day.

Whilst many schools planned their own Robert Owen Day activities, students in the Greater Manchester and Southampton areas were invited to two special showcase events to promote the day. They had the opportunity to take part in a roundabout of activities including the opportunity to apply for the job of Mill Manager at New Lanark, sculpt a memorial to Owen, watch films about the situation of child labourers in the world today, and help to design their own sustainable community.
