Fairtrade tasting at the Bolsover School
The Bolsover School, with support from the local Co-operative in Bolsover, Derbyshire, organised a Fairtrade tasting session for all the school during Fairtrade Fortnight.
The event was held over three days at break time so that the different year groups would all have the opportunity to try a cup of Fairtrade tea, coffee or hot chocolate. In addition to the drinks chocolate was also available to taste.
The students, after getting their drink, sat down in the school’s Learning Resource Centre to watch a DVD about Fairtrade. No charges were made for drinks, however if a student felt that they wanted to leave a donation a collection tin was available. In total £40 was collected through donations. This has been sent to a charity the school is supporting, The Blue Bell Wood Children’s Hospice.
Young Co-operatives Co-ordinator John Whittwaker would like to thank on behalf of the Bolsover School the Co-operative in Bolsover, and also Great Northern Tea Merchants in Chesterfield for their help and support.
