The Glasgow Academy Young Co-operative
The Glasgow Academy
Welcome to the page for the Glasgow Academy Young Co-operative! Here's what we have been up to:
What to do with a profit?
Over the last three years we have been building up enough money to be self-sufficient. We can now purchase stock without having to borrow money from the school.
Ethical Enterprise
The final update on the work of Wish Upon a Tree.
My Fairtrade Shop Experience
My Fairtrade Shop Experience
On the 30th of March 2011 I was given the job of selling Fairtrade products at the school show. We were selling items such as chocolate, tortilla chips, cola and rice. The Eco-Committee had got together and made lots of newspaper plant pots. These had mixed herbs in them.
Kilombero Rice Project
Only 1 in 3 children attend High School in Malawi. Malawi is an impoverished landlocked country in South Eastern Africa. A Malawian farmer has to sell 90Kg of rice to afford the school fees for one child for a year.
Fairtrade Fortnight at The Glasgow Academy
The Glasgow Academy has a popular and dedicated Fairtrade Group. This has led to Fairtrade Fortnight being an integral part of the school calendar; and this year was no exception.
Fairtrade Bazaar News Update!!
Our Fairtrade Bazaar has been pressed into action a lot recently. Firstly, there was Faritrade Fortnight, then the M Factor and now there is the Music Evening. It hasn't all been smooth selling over the last month.
