Saturday 12th March saw the young people of City of Ely Community College's Young Co-Operative hold a Fairtrade Fashion Show with City of Ely Fairtrade Forum to raise awareness of Fairtrade clothing.
The audience at the event was amazed by their effort and empathy with the cause. Mikayla, who attended the event because one of her friends was a model said," I was very impressed by the enthusiasm of all the pupils taking part and it was very interesting learning about Fairtrade. I will be more enthusiastic about buying Fairtrade products."
The students modelled cothes from two Fairtrade clothing ranges: One World is Enough and People Tree. Clothes ranged from t-shirts and summer dresses to 1950's style outfits.
At the end of the evening there was a small raffle with Fairtrade prizes, all donated by local business.
I'm part of the Young Co-operative at City of Ely Community College and i'm going to tell you how Fairtrade was promoted before, after and during the interval of the fashion show.
City of Ely Community College Young Co-operative has teamed up with Ely Fairtrade forum and will be taking part in a Fairtrade fashion show on Saturday 12 March to coincide with Fairtrade Fortnight 2011 (28 February-13 March), which has the theme 'Show your label'.
