Sustainable Horticulture & Sustainable Refurb
Assurability Cooperative CIC
We are currently building our new biodiversity and pollinators garden at Roman Fields Provision in Hertfordshire. Roman Fields Provision is undergoing an exciting change this January when it takes back its grounds maintenance contract and starts to run it in house as a Social Enterprise, a Young Cooperative that will allow learners on the Autistic spectrum to study for a City & Guilds Apprenticeship in Work-based Horticulture (0065).
Separate to this we are planning to use our school workshop to recycle washing machines and fridges, saving them from landfill and installing them in homes in some of Hertfordshire's most deprived areas ,all for the cost of delivery..This will allow our learners to study City & Guilds Sustainable Recycling (0748)
Currently only one in four learners with Autism access any form of education once they leave school. We feel this has to change and so do Ambitious about Autism. This is why we have signed their pledge. http://www.ambitiousaboutautism.org.uk/page/get_involved/finished_school/index.cfm .
Our new biodiversity and pollinators garden, which sits round our new and rather large classroom, will allow us to showcase our garden maintenance and landscaping capabilities and adds to our large scale strawberry production and growing orchard, with it's local fruit varieties and it's walnut trees.
Please feel free to check on our progress by visiting http://www.sustainablehorticulture.co.uk .
We look forward to seeing you all soon.
